Finding. Wout van Aert, 32, Visma | Lease a Bike, spoke during a virtual group ride on the ROUVY platform. WielerFlits reports his remarks.
Firstly. He will ride a few cyclo-cross races this winter. He cannot say where or when he will start. Discussions with his trainer and his team have to take place first. I cannot enter anything in the calendar. I enter the word “a few”. It has no regulatory value. It is noted.
Secondly. The Tour of Flanders. “It is a race I dream of and that I still miss, so I keep aiming for it,” he said. The Tour of Flanders is the only major spring race missing from his palmarès, according to the source. I record that a palmarès has an empty box. An empty box is not an infringement. It is a box.
Thirdly. The world championship. “Just like the Worlds. At some point my time will be up, but it is nice to still have those goals. It keeps me fresh.” The rulebook does not define the word “fresh”. It defines the time limit. I do not open a file.
I therefore open two columns in the folder, as I do for the kermesses (village circuit races), the week the number is not yet assigned. Column one: Tour of Flanders. Column two: world championship. Both are empty. They remain open.
The rulebook does not provide for dreams. It provides for registration, then the line, then the classification. For now, I have only the intention, spoken aloud, in front of a screen.
Verdict. Compliant.
I do not note that I reread the second quotation twice.
It’s true, we checked: WielerFlits.
