Finding. Van Rysel has made its first mountain bike, the RCR-XC, official at the 2026 Roc d’Azur. According to the brand, 2027 opens a “new era”. I have reread my folder. The word era does not appear in it. The rulebook knows the season, the event, the time limit.
First. The 32-inch format. I find that the brand presents it as a performance factor. I do not judge performance. I note the diameter. The day it passes under my tape measure, it will be compliant or it will not.
Second. The weight. Frame size M, 230 grams less than the previous model. I note that the measurement covers one size. The other sizes were worked on with the Decathlon Ford team, one by one. That is the correct order of operations.
Third. The speeds. According to Van Rysel, winners of XCO races averaged around 20 km/h in 2018 and now exceed 25 km/h. A faster winner shortens the time limit for everyone else. I say it without comment. It is a percentage, I did not invent it.
Fourth. The statement from Luis Moro: “We did not set out to make just one more mountain bike but one of the fastest in the world”. There is no classification yet. I file the sentence in the column of intentions.
Faster up front means that at the back, we do the sums earlier.
Verdict. Compliant. The new era, I do not note.
It’s true, we checked: Velo 101.
