Finding. The opening race of the Belgian cyclo-cross season is held in Dendermonde. This year it is called the Mosselcross, thanks to the sponsor Vishandel Borremans. The elite men’s winner receives 100 kilograms of mussels. So does the elite women’s winner. The youth categories, 50 kilograms.
I reread. The symmetry between women and men is respected. I note. It is compliant.
Firstly. A prize is measured. A cash prize is counted, a prize in kind is weighed. The text published by HLN gives the weight. It does not give the method. Who weighs. On which scales. At what time, since a mussel does not weigh the same at the start as at the prize-giving.
Secondly. The shell. One hundred kilograms with the shell, or one hundred kilograms of meat. Administratively, that is not the same winner. The rulebook I know provides for nothing. At the kermesse (a village circuit race), the butcher’s prize is a parcel, nobody weighs it. Here, a figure has been written. A written figure calls for a weighing.
Thirdly. The finish is no longer on the Hamsesteenweg but in a car park. A car park accommodates a pallet better. I merely observe.
“With the shell. And I’m the one loading it, alright?”
Verdict on the prize: compliant, subject to weighing. I would prepare a separate folder for the delivery note.
I do not note what I would do with 100 kilograms of mussels in Amay. It is not in the column.
It’s true, we checked: HLN.
